Pat Bornstein is a singer based in Basel Switzerland. Primarily a music lover, Pat cites her influences as Tori Amos, Heather Nova, Florence and the Machine and Sinead O’Connor. She has recently completed her debut album which she hopes will find its place among the work of such luminaries.
‘Hummingbird’ is a collection of her most recent songs and is produced by award winning producer Andy Wright and recorded at the famous Rockfield Studios in Wales.
“Since I was a little girl I dreamed of performing my own songs on stage but I didn’t realise how much blood sweat and tears I would have to experience to give birth to this record”! Love and Loss was posited as a potential title for the album, but in all her experiences she believes she has been given the wings to navigate almost anything..rather like a Hummingbird!
Pat’s musical journey started as early as 5 years old when she took classical ballet lessons. Her ear for music was evidenced by her ability to pick up songs quickly and then perform them at kindergarten. Her love for music grew through her teenage years when she began writing songs. She also performed in a covers band doing songs by The Pretenders, Cyndi Lauper and Tina Turner.
Pat’s music could be described as ‘contemporary alternative rock’. Her influences are many but her narrative is unique to her. With the central themes being love and loss, people will identify with her relationships and see themselves in them.
Pat will be performing her launch at the Parterre One in Basel on the 2nd of March 2024.
Hummingbird is a superb debut, with sumptuously melodic compositions and complex arrangements. Pat’s rich tone expresses a deep sense of longing and an integrity which will inspire her listeners. A new star is born!
